Sam Smith Reveals Why He Passed on a Hit Song and Shares Insights on Working with Calvin Harris
At the age of 32, the singer and songwriter was approached by the trio consisting of producer Diplo and DJs Walshy Fire and Ape Drums to perform a track from 2016. However, Sam declined the offer, and it was ultimately Justin Bieber who took over.
During his appearance on the BBC Sounds show "Sidetracked" with Nick Grimshaw and Annie Mac, Sam revealed: “The only time I was offered a song that later became a hit was 'Cold Water' by Major Lazer featuring Justin Bieber. They sent it to me to perform, but at the time, I was too busy to handle it, and we missed the opportunity. In the end, I’m glad I made that choice because Justin Bieber delivered a fantastic performance. It was really meant for him.”
