Tragedy in Sweden: Rapper Gaboro shot dead in Norrköping
The Swedish music scene is in mourning after the brutal murder of rapper Gaboro, real name Ninos Khouri, in Norrköping, southwest of Stockholm. The tragedy shook the country and sparked a wave of emotion on social media, where fans and artists paid tribute to him.
Alan Max, a famous Swedish DJ, shared a photo with Gaboro, accompanied by a poignant "I have no words". Rapper Imenella, for her part, expressed her sadness with a sober but moving: "Rest in peace".

A chilling murder filmed and broadcast

The incident took place in a multi-storey car park, as reported by several local media outlets. On Thursday, Gaboro was found seriously injured at the scene before succumbing to his injuries in hospital. A video, apparently recorded by a body-worn camera, shows an armed person opening fire in the parking lot. The terrifying footage, which quickly circulated online, is now at the heart of the police investigation.
Swedish police have confirmed that they have the video and have included it in their investigation.

A rising star brutally extinguished

Gaboro had become known not only for his musical talent, but also for his mysterious identity, hidden behind a black ski mask and sunglasses. His hit track Harki, released in 2024, has racked up more than 11 million streams on Spotify, testifying to his impact on the Swedish hip-hop scene.

A series of violence that casts mourning on Swedish rap

The tragedy recalls other tragedies that have affected the country’s music scene. In June, another Swedish rapper, C. Gambino (not to be confused with Childish Gambino), was shot dead, a month after being named Swedish Hip Hop Artist of the Year. In 2021, multiple award-winning Einar was also shot dead in Stockholm amid gang violence.
Gaboro’s murder highlights the worrying escalation of violence against hip-hop icons in Sweden, sending the country into further shock and mourning.
